Longtime North Haledon mayor Randolph George easily held off a challenge from former councilman Dennis DeMarco, winning re-election by a 58%-42% margin.

DeMarco is well-known in state politics.  He was a special assistant to U.S. Senator Bill Bradley for seven years and then went to work for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, served as deputy commissioner of the old Department of Commerce and Economic Development under Gov. Jim Florio, and for Porzio Governmental Affairs, the lobbying arm of Porzio, Bromberg and Newman.  He now runs his own public affairs firm.

Haledon mayor Domenick Stampone won 74% of the vote in his rematch with Republican John Block.  His running mates, Carlos Aymat and Aleksandra Tasic, won in landslides also.

Prospect Park mayor Mohamed Khairullah defeated Republican Maria Emma Anderson with 70% of the vote.  Democrats easily won two council seats.

Democrats also swept three seats on the Little Falls Borough Council.

In West Milford, Michele Dale won an unexpired term as mayor with 41% of the vote against Democrat Christopher Garcia (33%) and independent Tim Wagner (26%).
