Evesham Democratic municipal chairman Phil Warren has resigned to devote his full attention to his new job as a field organizer for Mike Bloomberg’s presidential campaign.
“I will be focusing on what I have always done in politics – organizing, communicating, and building relationships in our town, county, and region. I am still and always will be committed to getting Democrats elected up and down the entire ballot,” Warren said. “I will remain as a Democratic Committee member and will commit as much time as I can, outside of my job, to contribute.”
Warren is walking away from an influential municipal chairman post for what could either be a short-term assignment – or a lucrative nine months.
During his time as chairman, Democrats have elected a mayor, Jaclyn Veasy, a congressman, Andy Kim, and have won a majority on the Burlington County Board of Freeholders.
Christie DeCarolis, the party vice chair, will become acting chair and get Evesham Democrats through the Burlington County Democratic convention and June primary.
I ask that everyone continue to work together to support our Mayor and Council members, our County officials, and especially Andy’s re-election efforts,” Warren said. “I also ask that everyone does their best to maintain our organization’s commitment to fairness, the democratic process, relationship building, positivity, and transparency. I had tried to maintain those values as your Chairman for all of these years and believe that, while compromise and other situations may test these values, it’s vital to the long-term success of what we have created.”
