Republican Richard Schober has won re-election to the East Greenwich Township Committee, but the race for a second seat remains too close to call, with Republican incumbent Joseph Vaccarella holding a narrow lead over Democratic challengers Sherry Faulkner and Eric Fisher.
Schober received 2,463 votes, or 25.59%, while Vaccarella received 2,406 votes, or 25.00%. Faulkner trails Vaccarella by just nine votes, with 2,397, while Fisher has 2,345 votes, 61 behind Vaccarella.
The outcome could determine control of the Township Committee, where Republicans currently hold every seat.
It remains unclear how many provisional ballots remain outstanding. Vote-by-mail ballots postmarked by 8 p.m. on Election Day can still be counted if they arrive by the close of business on Monday.
Faulkner, the director of nursing at Shady Lane Nursing Home, and Fisher, a realtor, challenged the two Republican incumbents to gain Democratic representation on the governing body.
The close contest comes in a Gloucester County township that has leaned Republican in recent statewide elections.
Donald Trump carried East Greenwich by eight percentage points in 2024, while Republican Jack Ciattarelli defeated Gov. Mikie Sherrill by three points in 2025.
