Dansereau slate sweeps in Roselle

Incumbent defeats candidates backed by Scutari, Armstead

Roselle Mayor Christine Dansereau on Tuesday defeated challengers backed by Union County Democratic Chairman Nicholas Scutari and Linden Mayor Derek Armstead.

Dansereau received 1,094 votes, beating the 924 earned by Donald Shaw, Scutari’s candidate. Archange Antoine, Armstead’s candidate, got 647 votes.

Lociano Benjamin got 75 votes.

Council President Denise Wilkerson won re-election to the borough’s at-large council seat with 1,073 votes.

She faced Councilwoman Cynthia Johnson, who got 605 votes.

Janna Williams, Scutari’s candidate for the at-large seat, got 780 votes.

Dansereau running mate Cindy Thomas won the fourth ward’s council seat with 195 votes. County-backed candidate Brandis Puryear received 151 votes, and France Tucker got 113.
