Carpenter’s Union Local 254 backed Alderwoman Carolyn Blackman for Dover mayor Monday.
“She completely understands the struggles of the people of her community because she actually spends time talking and listening to them,” a union spokesman said. “She also has a thorough understanding of the legislative and policy initiatives that will make meaningful changes to the people of Dover. She proposed legislation to the Town that will guarantee that 25% of the jobs on Dover’s redevelopment projects are given directly to Dover residents. Unfortunately, Mayor Dodd has refused to place it on the agenda for a vote.”
Blackman is running against Mayor James Dodd as the Democratic nominee.
Dodd is mounting an independent bid after losing the support of the county organization.
“it is indeed my honor and my pleasure to receive the endorsement of the Carpenters. I share their values of hard work and commitment to excellence,” Blackman said. “I look forward to working with them to provide opportunities for the people of Dover.”
