Blackman wins in Dover

By Nikita Biryukov, November 05 2019 9:24 pm

Alderwoman Carolyn Blackman ousted Dover Mayor Jim Dodd Tuesday.

Dodd lost the support of the Morris County Democratic Party last year. Blackman sided with insurgent county-backed Democrats that swept the town’s Aldermen elections last year and was picked to run for Dodd’s post.

In an effort to hold his seat, the incumbent mounted an independent bid.

  1. I voted for Blackman in the hope that there will be less corruption in the town. Mayor Dodd gave his girlfriend a job and then increased her salary. What are her qualifications? Also, the Town Administrator position should be held by someone who lives in our community as well as ALL the town jobs. Snow removal and they way they currently do it is unacceptable. I have seen first hand how after one is done shoveling or removing the snow the trucks come around and throw all the snow back on the sidewalks. This is unacceptable, seniors can’t be shoveling snow all day long. I’ve seen plows, plowing at 2:00 a.m. with NO SNOW. This is ridiculous. I think we need to control the OVERTIME spending as well. I hope by voting in Ms. Blackman the town residents will be heard and NOT IGNORED!
