PLAINFIELD – Candidates to replace outgoing Plainfield councilwoman Rebecca Williams have yet to be set in stone, Plainfield mayor Adrian Mapp said on Saturday.
“Well, that has not yet been determined,” Mapp said. “I have to choose three names to submit to the council within 15 days of her resignation from the council, and I will be having a meeting of our Plainfield Democratic city committee on Tuesday the 12th of June, and at that time, I expect to present three names to the members of the committee which will then be forwarded to the city council.”
Williams was appointed to fill former Freeholder Linda Carter’s seat by the Union County Democratic Organization after the latter was appointed to the General Assembly to fill the seat of the late Jerry Green.
Williams will be sworn in on June 7.
