Plainfield Democrats want Rebecca Williams, a City councilwoman, to be the next Union County freeholder.
The city’ Democratic county committee today picked Williams as their suggested candidate to take the seat vacated this week when Linda Carter resigned to become an Assemblywoman. Carter replaced Jerry Green, who died last month.
City Councilman Cory Storch was also interested in the post.
The Union County Democratic Committee will hold a special election convention on Thursday.
The freeholder seat is widely viewed as a Plainfield seat.
