Fourteen candidates filed to run for City Council in Hoboken Tuesday.

In the first ward, Councilman Mike DeFusco will face Migdalia Pagan-Milano.

In the second, Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher faces Nora Martinez DeBendetto.

Councilman Ruben Ramos faces Lisa Sprengle in the fourth ward.

Three candidates are running in the fifth and sixth wards.

Philip Cohen, Timothy Crowell and Nicola Maganuco will vie for Councilman Peter Cunningham’s seat. Cunningham is not running for re-election.

In the sixth, Councilwommen Jenn Fiattino will face challengers from Cristin Cricco Powell and Frank Rosner.

Pagan-Milano, Debendetto, Sprengle, Cohen and Cricco Powell are running on a slate backed by Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.

Bhalla is not fielding a candidate in the third ward, where Councilman Michael Russo faces a challenge from Ronald Bautista.

Race watchers are viewing the race as a referendum on Bhalla, who has feuded with members of the city council since taking office in 2009.

Party leaders in Hudson County have vowed to steer clear of the non-partisan election.

The city clerk will draw ballot positions at noon on Sept. 16. Election day is Nov. 5.
