Joe Biden has won the organization line in Sussex County, defeating Bernie Sanders by a vote of 100 to 36, a 46-point victory in a county which Sanders carried in the 2016 New Jersey primary against Hillary Clinton by a 57%-43% margin.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) easily dispatched Arati Kreibich to win the line in Sussex.
Gottheimer defeated Kreibich, a Glen Rock councilwoman, by a 98 to 33 vote, a 74%-25% win. One delegate voted not to endorse anyone.
U.S. Senator Cory Booker and Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) will also run on the organization line in Sussex.
The vote was conducted electronically after Democrats cancelled their convention to be consistent with the state’s social distancing policy.
Sussex County Democratic Chair Katie Rotondi announced last week that she had tested positive for COVID-190.
“I’m still quite sick, but I think I’ve turned a corner which is good,” Rotondi said.
