Republicans easily win Sussex freeholder seats

GOP candidates ousted incumbents in June.

Two Sussex County freeholder candidates that ousted Republican incumbents in this year’s primaries easily won their races.

Franklin Council President Dawn Fantasia and Sparta Mayor Josh Hertzberg, who defeated Freeholders Jonathan Rose and Carl Lazzaro in June, won with 35,439 and 32,011 votes, respectively. That’s about 33% of the vote for Fantasia and roughly 29% for Herzberg.

Democrat challenger Howard Zatkowsky got 19,477 votes, about 18%, while his running mate Patrick Curreri got 18,997, or about 17%.
