Bergen Democrats voting to postpone county committee elections

Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul Juliano has put the question of extending terms for county committee members for an extra year up to a vote full county committee.

County committee members make the call in an online vote.  Voting is going on now and polls will close on Tuesday.

The New Jersey Democratic State Committee has recommended that county party organizations move June 2020 county committee elections to June 2021 to alleviate the nominating petition process as part of the state’s social distancing plan aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-10.

Juliano had cancelled his county convention earlier this month and instead used a secure online voting process to award the organization line.  Bergen Democrats reported a near 90% turnout.
