Bergen County Democratic Chairman Paul Juliano raised nearly $75,000 tonight to boost the campaign warchest of the new Senate President, Nicholas Scutari.

Scutari assumed the top Senate post in January, after Steve Sweeney’s defeat in his own re-election bid ended his record as the longest-serving Senate President in New Jersey history.

The event at Sanzari’s New Bridge Inn in New Milford was co-hosted by the Human Fundraising Machine, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff).   Several of the county’s Democratic lawmakers are expected to attend.

Juliano supported Scutari’s ascent to the senate presidency in the days following Sweeney’s upset loss to Republican Edward R. Durr (R-Swedesboro) in the 3rd legislative district.
