Fourteen Republicans have filed letters of intent to seek the Ocean County Republican organization line for two County Commissioner seats, including one incumbent, Gary Quinn.
The frenzy was set off by the retirement of Commissioner Gerry Little, who announced last year that he would not seek re-election to a 7th term in 2021.
Seeking his seat: Berkeley Township Councilman John Bacchione; Little Egg Harbor Committeewoman Bobbie Jo Crea; Pine Beach Mayor Lawrence Cuneo; Lacey Mayor Peter Curatolo; Ocean Township Board of Education member Shawn Denning; former Brick school board candidate Victor Finamore; Lisa Hodgson-Henson, a realtor from Surf City; Jackson Council President Andrew Kern; former Stafford Council President Sharon McKenna; former Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Stephen Reid; former Brock Councilman Michael Thulen; Island Heights Councilman Rolf Weber; and former Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Rory Wells.
“The Ocean County Republican Organization has a ‘deep bench’ and this is reflected in the numbers and quality of candidates applying,” said Ocean County GOP Chairman Frank Holman.
There are no challengers to incumbent members of the State Senate and Assembly in the four legislative districts that include parts of Ocean County: the 9th, 10th, 12th and 30th.
