Former Assemblyman John Wisniewski isn’t ready to back anyone for the Democratic nod to take on President Donald Trump.
“There’s a lot of good ones. I think Sen. [Cory] Booker has shown himself to have the chops that are necessary to prosecute this race through the end, as has Vice President [Joe] Biden, as have Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren,” Wisniewski said. “And I think that for the moment we are blessed with an embarrassment of riches.”
Wisniewski, who was New Jersey State Director for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign, didn’t mention the Vermont senator when running through his list candidates.
He declined to say whether that indicated he’d fallen out of love with Sanders, who didn’t endorse the assemblyman during his 2017 gubernatorial bid.
“The difficult thing for Democrats is we can only have on presidential candidate in the end,” Wisniewski said. “We have to decide on a candidate that not only speaks to the future but has the ability to address, in very real terms, the danger that Donald Trump presents for our country.”
