Weinberg, Kean urge Trump supporters to stop assault on Capitol

In a rare joint statement, State Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck) and State Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean (R-Westfield) urging supporters of President Donald Trump to stop their assault on the nation’s Capitol.

“What we are witnessing in Washington is not how our democracy is supposed to function,” they said. “The protestors who have breached the United States Capitol building illegally should go home immediately or face the full force of the law.”

A mob urged by the president stormed Congress as they were counting electoral votes that will confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Members in both chambers were evacuated and are sheltering in place throughout the building.

All  of the New Jersey’s delegation has confirmed their safety.
