Taylor picks up some endorsements for Assembly bid

Union County Commissioner Rebecca Williams has endorsed Bibi Taylor for the Democratic nomination for State Assembly in the 21st district.

Taylor also picked up the backing of several other influential woman across the state, although not necessarily in her district: Democratic State Committeewomen Alixon Collazos and Shawn Laurenti; councilwomen Maureen Byrne of Madison, Ashley Davis of Plainfield, Syd Wahley of Spring Lake; township committeewomen Carol Rizzo of Neptune; former Emerge New Jersey executive director Truscha Quatrone; and former 21st district Senate candidate Jill Lazare.

“Bibi’s humanity speaks to us all. Her integrity makes us proud to call her our colleague and our friend,” the individuals said in a statement. “We know her head and her heart. We believe she will represent the diverse constituency of her district with distinction.”

Williams is a former Plainfield councilwoman and Taylor is the Union County finance director and a former Plainfield business administrator.

The Essex County Federation of Democratic Women also endorsed Taylor, the former First Lady of East Orange.

“She brings wealth of knowledge and skill to the job,” said former Newark Councilwoman Bessie Walker, the president of the club.  “She has shown us in every aspect of her life that she believes in government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
