Ventnor Mayor Beth Holtzman has dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination for State Assembly in the 2nd district, according to a report on downbeach.com.

Holtzman is withdrawing for health reasons.

She had announced last month that she would run with Atlantic County freeholder Frank Formica for the chance to challenge incumbents Vincent Mazzeo (D-Northfield) and John Armato (D-Buena Vista).

Freeholder John Risley, Brigantine mayor Phil Guenther and Somers Point councilman James Toto are also seeking the Republican nomination.
