Senate President Steve Sweeney is the second most powerful person in state government, but two-thirds of New Jersey has no opinion of him.
Sweeney has upside-down statewide favorables of 13%-21%, according to a new poll Rutgers-Eagleton/ Fairleigh Dickinson University poll.
Among Democrats, Sweeney has favorables of 12%-15%, with 73% of New Jersey Democrats offering no opinion of him.
The senate president is at 13%-26% among independents, and 16%=24% among Republicans.
The poll contacted 1,203 adults between March 7-22. Of this sample, 621 were contacted on landlines and cellphones and 582 through an online probability-based panel. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.7%.
