State Sen. Tony Bucco said he doesn’t yet have a preference for chair of Morris County’s Republican Committee.
“I haven’t really thought about that yet. We’ve got primaries to get through, and once we get through that area, we’ll focus in on who’s going and who the candidates are going to be,” he said. “I’ve never gotten out in front of those issues before the whole field is set, so we’ll see.”
Morris County Republican Chairman Ron DeFilipis stepped away from his role at the head of the organization in November, citing personal and health reasons.
County GOP Vice Chairwoman Laura Ali is serving as acting chair.
It’s unclear whether DeFilipis will seek a second term. He won his first term by a razor-thin four-vote margin against Robert Zwigard in June 2018.
