James Baldini has raised $1,388 in his bid for the Republican nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 5th district – or $3,455,608 less than incumbent Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff).
Baldini has spent $6,091 so far and his campaign is $3,811 in the red.
Six other Republicans are seeking the nomination to run against Gottheimer: Montvale mayor Michael Ghassali, investment banker Frank Pallotta, former Cresskill councilman John McCann, who ran in 2018; former Bergen County Republican official Paul Duggan; college student Jon Dalrymple; and perennial candidate Hector Castillo. Dana DiRisio, who spent ten years as an aide to Rep. Scott Garrett, dropped out of the race earlier this month.
Ghassali has raised $861,900 and Pallotta has brought in $510,899.
A teacher, Baldini is a political newcomer who is described in Sussex County as a “really good guy.”
