Bucco bill would create health care worker hours at MVC

State Sen. Tony Bucco (R-Boonton) introduced a bill that would shutter Motor Vehicle Commission facilities in the state to all except frontline health care workers.

“Our doctors, nurses, and EMTs are on the front lines every day leading the battle against this pandemic,” Bucco said. “This bill gives our health care workers and first responders access to dedicated appointment times at all MVC locations. It will significantly reduce their wait times and allow them to return to treating patients and saving lives.”

The bill would require the department to block out two hours every day except Sundays for health care worker appointments and walk-ins.

“This common-sense measure will make the process of registering a vehicle or renewing a license more efficient and less time consuming for all healthcare workers,” Bucco said. “It’s the least we can do for the heroes who heeded the call and continue to put themselves at risk during our time of need.”
