Summit’s mayor said Jon Bramnick’s law firm website promise to seek to discredit sexual assault accusers “appalling.”
“Honestly, I think criminal defense attorneys often do whatever they can do defend their clients, but advertising that you will do whatever to discredit the accuser is beyond the pale for me,” Mayor Nora Radest said. “I think that’s pretty appalling.”
The Assembly minority leader’s website says its attorneys will investigate a client’s case and seek to discredit their accuser.
Gov. Phil Murphy called the website “disgusting and unacceptable.”
Democratic operative Julie Roginsky, a former Fox News personality who sued Roger Ailes for harassment in 2017, said the website was meant to have a chilling effect on women considering making sexual assault accusations.
Bramnick has not responded to calls and texts beginning at 9:50 AM.
“That’s the piece of it — discrediting accusers is,” Radest, a Democrat, said. “I’m sure it happens, but advertising that that’s what you do, as I said, it goes beyond the pale.”
