Atlantic GOP goes for Peters, Stanfield for Assembly

Clean sweep for move to dump Howarth in 8th

Assemblyman Ryan Peters (R-Hainesport) and Burlington County sheriff Jean Stanfield will have the GOP organization line for State Assembly in the 8th district.

Hammonton Republicans voted this morning to endorse Peters and Stanfield over incumbent Joe Howarth (R-Evesham).  Hammonton is the only Atlantic County municipality in the 8th.

Burlington GOP leaders dumped Howarth from the organization line earlier this year after concluding that he had discussed switching parties with Democratic legislative leaders.  State Sen. Dawn Addiego, a close Howarth ally, switched to the Democratic Party in January after eleven years as a Republican legislator.

Peters and Stanfield have now secured organization lines in Burlington, Camden and Atlantic counties.
