State Sen. Joseph Cryan (D-Union) became the second New Jersey State Senator – and the first Democrat — to say that he would vote to confirm Rachel Wainer Apter to the New Jersey Supreme Court.
“I am looking forward to voting for Rachael Wainer Apter for the New Jersey Supreme Court, Cryan said on Twitter Sunday evening. “Great choice by Governor Phil Murphy.”
State Sen. Robert Singer (R-Lakewood), the senior Republican in the New Jersey Senate, said earlier this evening that he was supporting Murphy’s nomination of Wainer Apter, the director of the state Division of Civil Rights.
Wainer Apter, a 40-year-old Harvard law graduate, clerked for three federal judges, including U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She worked as a staff attorney at the American Civil Liberties Union before joining the Murphy administration.
