Barbara Bye, a former mayor of Branchburg, died on January 18. She was 77. She also served as a township committeewoman and as a member of the Somerset County Federation of Women. At the time of her death, she was a confidential aide to Sheriff Frank Provenzano.
Edward Gallagher, a former Seaside Park councilman and union leader, died on January 20. He was 85. Gallagher served in the U.S. Army in Korea and became a sheet metal worker. He retired as business manager of Local 22 in Cranford.
Walter Sullivan, a state administrative law judge, passed away on January 10. He was 79. After graduating from Yale Law School, he served in the U.S. Army, worked in Trenton for United Press International (UPI), then for the Office of the Public Advocate and the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. He served as a judge until his retirement in 1999.
Bertha Pittore, whose husband served as mayor of Lambertville, died on January 20. She was 96. Her son, Ronald Pittore, is the Lambertville municipal court judge.
Alvin Miller, a former member of the East Windsor Democratic Club, died on January 18. He was 85. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Ward and spent more than 35 years with the U.S. Postal Service.
Beatrice Klatsky, who spent ten years working in the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office and then 22 years at Fort Monmouth, died on January 19. She was 76.
