Donald Day, a Matawan borough councilman in the 1970s, died on April 25.  He was 92.  He was elected in 1972, defeating Democrat Thomas Cronin by about 425 votes in a race where another Republican council candidate won by just four votes.  Day did not seek re-election in 1976.

Lucille Millar, who was elected to the Moonachie borough council in 2011 and served until last year, passed away on April 26.  She was 75.  Millar was a Moonachie school board member from 1977 to 1981.

George Tomko, a former East Hanover mayor, died on April 14.  He was 91.  Tomko was a township committeeman from 1973 to 1984 and the mayor in 1977 and 1980.  He was elected as a Democrat and later switched to the GOP after losing renomination in the 1984 Democratic primary.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Stephanie Cedervall, once a candidate for Rahway city councilwoman, died on April 25.  She was 97.  He late husband, Thor Cedervall, was a Rahway councilman from 1975 to 1978 and a former business representative of the United Metal and Paint Workers and Allied Trades Local 22.

Marie Eberhardt, who spent sixteen years on the Chester Board of Education in the 1960s and 1970s, passed away on April 26.  She was 96.

William Cunningham, a former Hamburg Democratic municipal chairman who spent ten years on the borough council, died on April 26.  He was 81.

John Goodfellow, the father-in-law of Point Pleasant mayor Robert Sabosik, passed away on April 19.  He was 90.
