Former Middlesex freeholder dies

J. Thomas Cross, a Democrat who served as mayor of South Amboy followed by two terms as a Middlesex County Freeholder, died on June 11. He was 83. Cross served as mayor of South Amboy from 1976 to 1983, and as a Middlesex County Freeholder from 1983 to 1990.  He left the freeholder board to become the county personnel director.

Rocco Longo, a New Jersey native who held local town manager in several Massachusetts towns, died on July 7.  He was 67.
