Former Hudson freeholder dies

John Spinello, a former Hudson County Freeholder, passed away on December 16.  He was 73. A U.S. Navy veteran, Spinello was elected freeholder in 1981 and served one three-years term representing Jersey City.  His son, John, was the director of the Authorities Unit under Gov. Chris Christie, and his daughter, Mary Paretti, is a former Jersey City Ward B councilwoman.

Jack Byrne, a former Ringwood councilman, passed away on December 16.  He was 73.

Bertha Bell, a member of the Bellmawr Democratic Club, died on December 16.  She was 81.
