Former Assembly candidate; retired Judge die

Phyllis Cedola, a former Maplewood Republican Municipal Chair, passed away on May 23.  She was 88.  Cedola was the Republican candidate for State Assembly in the 28th legislative district in 1991 and 1993  She lost to incumbents Jimmy Zangari and Harry McEnroe by nearly 8,000 votes in 1991 and more than 13,000 votes in 1993.

Frederic Weber, a retired Superior Court Judge, died on May 24.  He was 94.  Weber served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He served as secretary and counsel to Senate President Alfred Littell from 1950 to 1951, and as chairman of the Fredon Township Planning Board from 1968 to 1972.  Gov. William Cahill nominated him to serve as a Sussex County Court Judge in 1972, and Gov. Brendan Byrne named him to the Superior Court in 1977.  He served on the bench until 1989.
