Ex-Hamilton mayor dies

Albert DeMartin, a former mayor of Hamilton Township, passed away on April 17 on his 86th birthday.  He was Jack Rafferty’s predecessor as mayor and later served as Hamilton Township Superintendent of Schools.  In 1975, DeMartin challenged Assembly Speaker S. Howard Woodson and Assemblyman Francis J. McManimon in the Democratic primary but was unsuccessful.  McManimon beat him by 2,185 votes.

Robert Calandra, a former Pompton Lakes Councilman, died on April 13.  He was 73.  He served as a councilman in the early 1980’s.
