Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-Paulsboro) issued a statement this morning on the death of Assemblyman Jerry Green:
“I’m saddened at the loss of my friend, Jerry Green.
Jerry was a great character, always ready to provide sage advice culled from his years successfully navigating New Jersey politics and his desire to do what’s right for the people of our state. Helping others was always his priority. He never stopped trying to make our state a better place, especially when it came to affordable housing. No one knew more about affordable housing, and no one fought harder for it to become a reality for hard-working New Jerseyans.
When Jerry had something to say, the room stopped. He had well-earned respect, and his leadership helped guide many members and staff. He was tough-as-nails, yet had a heart of gold.
He will be missed.”
