Democrats take control of Hamilton Township Committee

Democrat Maria Newman defeated Republican Committeeman Eric Aiken on the Hamilton Township Committee, giving Democrats a 3-2 majority.

Newman, a real estate broker and former member of the Hamilton Township Board of Education, unseated Aiken, who was seeking re-election. The result shifts control of the five-member committee from Republicans to Democrats.

Kamala Harris carried Hamilton by one percentage point in 2024, and Sherrill won by eight points in 2025.

Newman received 5,512 votes, compared with 4,350 votes for Aiken.
