Cecilia Wisniewski, the mother of former Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Sayreville) and a prominent arborist who was active in her community, died on February 22. She was 93.
Wisniewski served as the Sayreville municipal court administrator from 1971 until retiring in 2000. She was a Democratic county committeewoman from 1974 to 1984 and chaired the Sayreville Shade Tree Commission from 1956 to 1984.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, former Sayreville Council President Felix E. Wisniewski, in 2017.
In addition to her son, a former Democratic State Chairman and gubernatorial candidate, she is survived by another son, Felix, and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home in Parlin on Monday, February 27, from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day at 9:15 AM at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Amboy.
The Wisniewski family is requesting donations be made in her memory to the Sayreville First Aid Squad.
