Assemblywoman Mila Jasey (D-South Orange) issued a statement this morning on the death of Assemblyman Jerry Green:
“I am so sad to hear of the passing of my friend and mentor Jerry Green.
I served with Jerry on the Housing committee for a decade, and had the honor to be his vice-chair. I learned so much from him. No one knew more about housing policy, and no one worked harder to make housing more affordable in this state.
I also got to see his leadership qualities first-hand. He listened to everyone, and while Jerry was a tried-and-true Democrat, he treated everyone the same. His priority wasn’t partisan politics. It was doing the right thing for the people of New Jersey. His wisdom was second to none.
I will miss Jerry very much. I can’t picture the Assembly without him. His loss will be felt in many, many ways.
I send my prayers and condolences to Speaker Pro Tempore Green’s family.”
