Some incredibly sad news from Montclair: Terry Lawrence Demming, the seven-year-old son of former councilwoman Kathryn Weller Demming and her husband, Vincent, passed away on July 4.

Terry was a rising second grader at Charles J. Bullock School in Montclair, where he was an avid lover of sports.

“He was an energetic, smart, beautiful and charismatic child. He attended our holiday parties, dinners, tallying of votes and other events. We have all watched him grow up before us, at local events, marching in parades, Easter egg hunts and more,” the Montclair Democratic Party said in an e-mail.  “His loss has reverberated deeply with our family. We will always keep the Demming and Weller families in our love and prayers.”

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM tonight and tomorrow from 10-11 AM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montclair.  Funeral services will follow tomorrow at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the Demming family has asked that contributions be made in Terry’s name to create a foundation that will “support the things he loved most – sports, children and his community.”  https://www.gofundme.com/q6bjg-memorial-fund

Terry is also survived by his grandparents, Barbara and Alfred Weller.

  1. I don’t know your family but my best friend does. I can’t imagine what this loss has done to you. I pray your little boys memory will be a blessing unto you, as we say in the Jewish tradition. He will surely live in your hearts forever.
