Gov. Phil Murphy and Senate President Steve Sweeney appear to have a deal on the legalization of marijuana, according to two sources familiar with the negotiations.

The agreement between the governor and the senate leader will still need the approval of the Legislature.

The governor’s office and legislative leadership are in the process of counting votes now and neither side is expected to make any announcement they are fully confident that they have the support to pass the measure.

Murphy has a list of undecided legislators he needs to move before the matter can move forward.

Speculation of a deal has been circulating for more than a week.
