The Monmouth University Polling Institute will release a new poll on Wednesday morning showing a head-to-head matchup between Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and his Republican challenger, Jack Ciattarelli.
A Rutgers-Eagleton poll on the New Jersey Governor’s race is in the field now and will be released no later than Friday.
The Monmouth poll, run by Patrick Murray and widely viewed as the gold standard of New Jersey independent public opinion polling, comes after two other polls showed the race for governor tightening.
An Emerson College poll released last week put Murphy’s lead at six points, 50%-44%. A September 29 Stockton University poll showed Murphy up by nine points, 50%-41%.
Two previous Monmouth polls gave Murphy double-digit leads in his bid for a second term.
Murphy was up sixteen points, 52%-36%, in August, and had a thirteen-point lead, 51%-38% in September.
The Monmouth poll will also show President Joe Biden’s approval rating in New Jersey.
