Gov. Phil Murphy intends to return to campaign in the 25th legislative district before polls close on Tuesday.
“I’ve been in 25, and I’ll be in 25 over the course of the next couple days,” Murphy said Sunday.
Murphy attended a canvass launch in the Democratic stronghold of Dover Saturday morning.
Democrats Lisa Bhimani and Darcy Draeger are running for the district’s two Republican-held Assembly seats. They face State Sen. Anthony Bucco and Denville Councilman Brian Bergen.
Murphy didn’t hit two of the state’s most competitive districts, the first and the eighth, in his weekend circuit.
It’s worth noting that First Lady Tammy Murphy headlined a canvass launch in LD8 Saturday afternoon.
It’s not likely that a visit in the first, a staunchly red district held by Democrats, would do much to benefit incumbents, but the eighth is a different matter.
While Murphy didn’t indicate he had any plans to visit the first district, he is angling to get to the eighth before polls close.
“I’m hoping to get there before Tuesday night. I’m not sure of that,” Murphy said.
