Gov. Phil Murphy has a 43%-37% favorable rating, according to a new poll Rutgers-Eagleton/ Fairleigh Dickinson University poll.
Murphy remains unknown to 19% of New Jerseyans.
He had favorables of 36%-24% in a May 2018 Rutgers-Eagleton poll.
Murphy now has favorables of 73%-12% among Democrats, up from 54%-5% one year ago.
He is at 33%-39% among independents, and 11%-78% among Republicans.
The governor is at 39%-44% among men and at 47%-30% among women. He’s at 36%-51% among white voters, but scores favorables of 55%-16% among non-white voters.
Murphy scores his best favorables among millennials: he’s at 50%-20% among New Jerseyans under age 35.
A poll release last week by Rutgers-Eagleton/Fairleigh Dickinson University showed Murphy’s job approvals at 52%-43%.
The poll contacted 1,203 adults between March 7-22. Of this sample, 621 were contacted on landlines and cellphones and 582 through an online probability-based panel. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.7%.
