Republicans stand solidly with president

President Donald Trump has an upside-down 30%-59% favorable rating in New Jersey, a poll Rutgers-Eagleton/ Fairleigh Dickinson University poll released this morning says.

Trump continues to be hugely popular among Republicans – 86%-8% — but he’s upside-down with every other demographic.  He’s at 21%-66% among women and 15%-72% among non-white New Jerseyans.

Among independents, Trump is at 19%-47%.

While Trump won’t likely compete for New Jersey’s fourteen electoral votes next year, his favorables could affect other key races down the rest of the ballot.

The poll contacted 1,203 adults between March 7-22.  Of this sample, 621 were contacted on landlines and cellphones and 582 through an online probability-based panel.  The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.7%.
