Gov. Phil Murphy today slammed Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick for pledging to discredit victims of sexual assault if the accused retains his law firm.
The New Jersey Globe reported today that the law firm Bramnick runs pitches potential clients by promising to “investigate your case and seek to discredit your accuser.”
“I only saw the article. I have not gone on the website. But if that’s true, it’s disgusting and unacceptable,” Murphy said at an announcement in Trenton on another issue.
The governor said he was stunned by the idea that Bramnick, a nine-term Republican from Westfield, would be so brazen in his desire to take down an accuser.
“This is America. Everybody’s allowed to have representation but we spend so much of our energy to make New Jersey the survivor state, to see that has taken my breath away,” Murphy said. “If it’s true he has to explain himself because that’s way, way out of line.”
Bramnick has not responded to calls and texts beginning at 9:50 AM.
