A pledge by Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick to discredit victims of sexual assault as part of his defense of the accused has angered Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, the highest-ranking woman in state government.
“I join Governor Murphy in his condemnation of the language used on Jon Bramnick’s law firm’s website to discredit victims of sexual assault — it is disgusting and unacceptable,” Oliver told the New Jersey Globe.
Bramnick is under fire for text that appeared on his law firm’s website that said he would help people accused of sexual assault by vilifying the victim.
“We will investigate your case and seek to discredit your accuser,” the firm’s website claimed.
The text has since been removed.
Bramnick served as Minority Leader while Oliver was the Assembly Speaker.
