Fulop takes the stairs in new campaign ad

Candidate for Democratic nomination for governor says he fought Menendez, Trump — and in Iraq

By David Wildstein, April 01 2025 7:08 am

The newest ad for Steve Fulop’s bid for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination shows him running up twelve flights of steps – in Weehawken, known to be a dangerous place for reformers with big ideas – as he touts his history of political independence.

In “Steps,” Fulop doubles down on his record as a U.S. Marine in Iraq, his challenge to Bob Menendez, his opposition to Donald Trump, and his progressive agenda as the three-term mayor of Jersey City.

Script: “When I got home from Iraq, some said I couldn’t take on the political machine. They said I couldn’t defeat an incumbent mayor, or pass the toughest ethics laws in state history, or take on Bob Menendez or Donald Trump. And they said I couldn’t pass some of the most progressive laws in the country.  But since when did anyone in New Jersey let someone else tell them what they can or can’t do? I’m Steve Fulop, and I’ll be a governor on nobody’s side but yours.”

This is the sixth ad of Fulop’s 2025 campaign; he’s been up on the air since January.   Click HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE to see the others.
