Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has a new ad that smacks President Donald Trump’s position on immigration, saying he is the “one candidate with the courage to stand up to Trump.”
In “ICE,” Baraka reminds voters that he “isn’t afraid to be a Democrat” and says ICE doesn’t have to work hard to find criminals: “They just need to go to the Oval Office because there’s a criminal in the Oval Office.”
Script: “(Voiceover) In the race for governor, only one candidate has the courage to stand up to Trump to protect New Jersey: Ras Baraka. When Trump’s ICE came with a warrantless search of a local business, it was Ras Baraka who demanded they stop. (Baraka) They believe that they’re going to open up, and we’re saying you’re not going to open up. (Voiceover) Ras Baraka isn’t afraid to be a Democrat and isn’t afraid to stand up to Trump. (Baraka) They don’t have to go too far to look for criminals. They just need to go to the Oval Office because there’s a criminal in the Oval Office.”
