Former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli has a 31-point lead in the race for the Republican nomination for governor, leading NJ 101.5 radio personality Bill Spadea, 54%-23% in an internal poll conducted by the Ciattarelli campaign.

State Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield) is in third place with 10%, and former Englewood Cliffs Mayor Mario Kranjac trails with 2%.

Ciattarelli has a 32-point lead, 56%-23%, among likely Republican primary voters who view President Donald Trump favorably or approve of his job performance.  Republicans who voted in the last three primary elections are backing Ciattarelli, 53%-24%.,

The poll of likely Republican primary voters was conducted by National Research. The firm is operated by one of Trump’s pollsters, New Jerseyan Adam Geller.   It marks an increase for Ciattarelli, who led Spadea 45%-18% and 41%-22% in two February polls, and 50%-22% in April.

“Jack’s ballot advantage over Spadea is now the largest it has ever been, despite the fact that Spadea’s campaign has started to spend significant resources in attack ads on Ciattarelli, while trying to explain away Spadea’s repeated attacks on President Trump following the 2020 election.

Ciattarelli has received 100% of the $5.5 million in matching funds available under the state’s gubernatorial public financing program. Spadea has been given $2,497,990 (45%), and Bramnick has received $3,147,701 (57%).  Kranjac did not raise enough to qualify for matching funds.

A fifth candidate, newcomer Justin Barbera, was not included in the poll.

Bramnick, Ciattarelli, and Spadea will face off in their final debate on Tuesday, May 20, sponsored by the New Jersey Globe, On New Jersey, Rider University, and Save Jersey.

The National Research Poll was conducted on May 6-8 with a sample size of 600 likely Republican primary voters and a margin of error of +/- 4%.
