Hudson County Democratic chair Amy DeGise says she will back Peg Schaffer for vice chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee.
DeGise endorsed Schaffer’s running mate, John Currie, for re-election as state party chairman late last year.
“Throughout my first year as the Hudson County Chairwoman, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee and Chairman John Currie have been great supporters and mentors to myself and the rest of our organization,” DeGise said. ““The state’s Democratic Party is stronger than ever before and it is important for us to continue building up momentum as we head into another election season.”
DeGise called Schaffer, the Somerset County Democratic chair, “a tremendous asset to our party and her track record of success and commitment to helping Democrats win up and down the ballot in traditionally red municipalities is unparalleled to any other.”
Schaffer will serve as the interim vice chair until an election late this year. She replaces Lizette Delgado-Polanco, who resigned today.
