The New Jersey Globe is calling the Democratic primary for State Assembly in the 29th district for incumbents Eliana Pintor Marin (D-Newark) and Shanique Speight (D-Newark).

They have defeated their primary opponents, Steve Jose Poveda and Awais Qazi.

Caputo and Tucker will face Republicans John Anello and Jeannette Veras.

The 29th has been held by Democrats since the district was created in 1973 and is one of the most Democratic districts in the state.  Recent voter registration numbers show the district has 61,685 Democrats and 6,955 Republicans.
