Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg has won the endorsement of five New Jersey local officials, including Millville mayor Michael Santiago.
The support comes one day after Bloomberg landed a major endorsement from Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair), a rising star in New Jersey Democratic politics.
Keyport councilman Matthew Goode, Atlantic Highlands councilman Roy Dellosso, and Mount Laurel councilmen Stephen Steglik and Kareem Pritchett also announced that they are backing the former New York City mayor.
“As a Mayor working to grow our economy in South Jersey, I’m proud to support Mike Bloomberg because his track record of getting things done is exactly the type of leadership we desperately need to make sure the economy works for all people, not just the wealthy,” Santiago said.
The officials praised Bloomberg’s record on health care, climate change, and gun violence prevention.
“The initial group of early endorsers spotlights the diversity of Mike Bloomberg’s support in New Jersey, and showcases that his record of getting things done is well known by his neighbors in the Garden State,” said Michael Muller, Bloomberg’s New Jersey State Director. “The energy in New Jersey for Mike’s candidacy already has him uniquely positioned to deliver a huge delegate haul in the presidential primary.”
