The Week Michael Saudino went down

Winner Losers
TOM MALINOWSKI MICHAEL SAUDINO
The Democratic candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th district against Rep. Leonard Lance has a 47%-39% lead in a new Monmouth University poll — one of the premier polls in the country. The Bergen County Sheriff is under fire from everybody after getting caught on tape making racist and homophobic comments.  He’s on borrowed time.
MICHELE JAKER GEORGE GILMORE
The longtime political operative is now a partner at MBI Gluck Shaw, a top Trenton lobbying firm. The Ocean County GOP Chairman is back in the news after the New Jersey Globe reveals one of his employees who had loaned him money was now appearing in a Bob Hugin ad.
SCOTT SALMON RALPH MARRA
The Jardim Meisner & Susser attorney scores in a huge win in a contentious four-day voter fraud trial involving the Dover Democratic primary.   The former acting U.S. Attorney is ousted from his job as general counsel at the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.
PHIL MURPHY WILLIAM PETRICK
The governor makes a deal with public employee unions to change health benefit plans and potentially save the state $500 million over the next two years — a win for the governor as he secures his political base. The Perth Amboy Council President is accused of “improper conduct and views” based on his social media posts — a miniaturized version of Sheriff Michael Saudino.
BRENT JOHNSON RONALD FAVA
The NJ Advance Media reporter has the most enjoyable story of the week: “Phil Murphy says the darndest (and corniest) things.  Here are our favorite Murphyisms.” The Republican candidate for Passaic County Clerk loses the advantage of dead-space between Congress and Clerk on the November ballot.
